Student Poster Awards

In recognition of the importance of networking, mentorship, and sharing knowledge with the next generation of museum professionals, WFM established a Student Poster session as part of the annual Wisconsin Museums Conference. Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to create a poster connecting the annual conference theme to Wisconsin museums and/or the museum profession. The poster session is a great way to network and to share ideas, research, programming, and much more with the Wisconsin museum community. In addition to. participation in the poster session, WFM will recognize the best poster, as determined by a panel of members of the WFM Board, with a $100 prize.

Eligibility

  • The Student Poster Session is open to any current undergraduate or graduate student. Students who have graduated within the past calendar year are also eligible to participate

  • Posters may be submitted either as individual projects or as collaborative efforts

Guidelines

  • Posters must be mounted on a foam core board no larger than 24” x 36” horizontal or vertical orientation is acceptable

  • Poster content may be affixed to the foam core as individual items or as a single item printed on a plotter

  • Posters must contain an abstract of 250 words maximum. Additional content may include photos, graphics, text or other appropriate media. Content requiring a table or other space should be limited, as only easels and/or wall space for display of the poster can be guaranteed

  • Participants are expected to register and attend the Wisconsin Museums Conference. A student rate for the conference is available

  • Participants will present their posters to representatives of the WFM Board and must be present to discuss their poster with interested conference attendees during a designated time period at the meeting

Recipients

  • On the day of the conference, a panel of WFM Board members will select the best poster from among all Student Posters submitted

  • Best Student Poster receives a $100 prize
